The Net

by John
(Fife)

This was another photograph taken at the fishing village of Pittenweem in the East Neuk of Fife. This delightful place has so many points of interest for artists and photographers alike.

The fishermen had brought in their haul and had spread the nets on the quayside before being mended ready for the next trip.

It is fascinating to watch the fishermen at work fixing any rips in their nets, and the skill that this entailed.

On this occasion, small crabs were caught in the mesh and these became a point of interest for the boy and his dog. It was a bitter cold day that I took this photograph, but this didn't bother the young lad. He was so busy having 'serious fun' with his dog, collecting crabs that he barely seemed to notice how cold it was.
